An exciting game was played in Portland. Fourth ranked Trail Blazers faced their close opponent Spurs. Host Trail Blazers (24-28) defeated guests from San Antonio (22-29) 125-117. Trail Blazers outrebounded Spurs 50-39 including 41 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Center Hassan Whiteside (213-89, college: Marshall) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 23 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Damian Lillard (190-90, college: Weber St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 assists. Swingman DeMar DeRozan (201-89, college: USC) produced 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Canadian swingman Trey Lyles (206-95, college: Kentucky) added 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Spurs' coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Trail Blazers maintains fourth position with 24-28 record which they share with defeated Spurs. Spurs lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 29 games lost. Trail Blazers will face league's second-placed Jazz in Salt Lake City in the next day and it may be the game of the week.
