Regular Season Round 20: Hamar - Alftanes 96-83

An interesting game for Hamar (15-2) which hosted in Hamar 4th ranked Alftanes (9-9). Second ranked Hamar managed to get a 13-point victory 96-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Alftanes. Alftanes were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 35-16 charge of Hamar, which allowed them to win the game. Hamar outrebounded Alftanes 46-35 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hamar made 7 blocks. American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Coastal) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. The other American import power forward Michael Phillips (201-90, college: Howard) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hamar's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Birgir Petursson (205-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) added 23 points in the effort for Alftanes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hamar have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hottur and Breidablik. Newly promoted Alftanes keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Hamar is looking forward to face league's leader Breidablik in Kopavogur in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Alftanes will play at home against Hottur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
