Regular Season Round 18: DCU Saints - UCD Marian 83-72

The most important game in the last round took place in Dublin between third ranked UCD Marian (11-6) and tenth ranked DCU Saints (7-10) on Saturday night. UCD Marian was defeated by DCU Saints on the road 83-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of UCD Marian. They outrebounded UCD Marian 53-32 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Michael Bonaparte (196-82, college: Coll.of the Ozarks) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Marcus Black chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Five DCU Saints players scored in double figures. DCU Saints' coach Mark Kiernan used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Mike Garrow (193-91, college: E.Connecticut) with 29 points and 7 rebounds and forward Aidan Dunne (198-97) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. DCU Saints moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Killester and Maree. UCD Marian at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. DCU Saints' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dublin to the arena Eanna.
