Regular Season Round 36: Shimane SM - Niigata A. 75-60

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Niigata A. (12-24) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Shimane Magic (11-25) 75-60 on Saturday. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata A.'s 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Brian Qvale (208-88, college: Montana) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) who added 19 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Keita Imamura (191-96) with 21 points and American forward Nick Perkins (203-96, college: Buffalo) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Shimane Magic maintains sixth position with 11-25 record. Loser Niigata A. keeps the fourth place with 24 games lost. Shimane Magic will face again higher ranked Niigata A. (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
