Very expected game when 8th ranked La Antigua (7-9) lost to third ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (12-4) in Avila 67-82 on Saturday. Fontedoso Carrefour outrebounded La Antigua 38-20 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a very good performance for French forward Ibrahima Diagne (207-95, college: Northern NM) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Jaume Lobo (180-97) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Fontedoso Carrefour's coach Jose Antonio Sanchez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Abe Massaley (180, college: Shippensburg) answered with 16 points and 4 assists and Serbian center Miroslav Jaksic (211-95, college: Oklah.Christian) added 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for La Antigua. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fontedoso Carrefour. They maintain third place in Group A-B with 12-4 record having five points less than leader Alcobendas. Loser La Antigua keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Fontedoso Carrefour will face Univ.Valladolid (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. La Antigua will play against Betanzos (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
