Regular Season Round 24: Besancon - CFBB 88-61

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked CFBB (0-22) was crushed on the road by eleventh ranked Besancon (7-17) 88-61 on Saturday. Besancon shot 22 for 30 from the free-throw line, while CFBB only scored six points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was point guard Eliot Maraux (184-96) who scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). British-Canadian forward Jermel Kennedy (201-89, college: Lander) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Besancon players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Ousmane Dieng (201-3) who recorded 16 points and Daniel Batcho (204-2) added 5 points and 10 rebounds respectively. CFBB's coach Jean-Aime Toupane gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Besancon maintains eleventh position in Group B with 7-17 record. Loser CFBB still closes the standings with 22 games lost. Besancon will face higher ranked SOPCC (#3) in Pont de Cheruy in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CFBB will play at home against the league's leader C'Chartres (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
