We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Sporting (9-7) won against on the road one of their biggest challengers Chania (10-6) 83-75. Strangely Chania outrebounded Sporting 38-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Chania was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Taya Reimer (193-95, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Stephanie Kostowicz (188-95, college: Milwaukee, agency: Wasserman) who added 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side guard Eutuhia Dermitzaki (-2) responded with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Sporting maintains fifth position with 9-7 record. Newly promoted Chania keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Sporting will play against league's leader Olympiacos in Pireus in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chania will play on the road against Niki Lefkadas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
