A1 top team - Olympiacos (16-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Melissia (3-13) 83-59. Olympiacos forced 20 Melissia turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including 34 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Melissia's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of international guard Jacki Gemelos (182-88, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals and American power forward Bashaara Graves (188-94, college: Tennessee) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Maranne Johnson (170-96, college: Sacramento St.) responded with 17 points and her fellow American import power forward Kristina King (190-95, college: WVU) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-0 record. Newly promoted Melissia stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Olympiacos will play against Sporting (#5) in Athens in the next round. Melissia will play at home against the league's second-placed Eleutheria M. (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
