Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Mestre (10-11) outscored at home 12th ranked Vicenza (7-14) 89-57 on Sunday. Mestre looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Marco Lazzaro (198-92) stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Gabriele Salvato (193-90) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Five Mestre players scored in double figures. Mestre's coach Fabio Volpato felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was naturalized Argentinian center Diego Corral (204-86, agency: Interperformances) with 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Simone Aromando (200-97) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Mestre moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with LTC Sangiorg. Vicenza lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Mestre will face Crema (#14) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Vicenza will play against the league's leader Tessilform Bernareggio where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
