Regular Season Round 22: Venezia - Treviso 79-73

Very expected game when 13th ranked Treviso (8-13) lost on the road to eighth ranked Umana Venezia (11-10) 79-73 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Umana Venezia outrebounded Treviso 44-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: RMU) who helped to win the game recording 18 points. The other American import point guard Julyan Stone (198-88, college: UTEP) contributed with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Slovenian point guard Aleksej Nikolic (191-95) replied with 14 points and 6 assists and Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Treviso. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Fortitudo BO and Trento. Newly promoted Treviso keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Umana Venezia will face higher ranked Vanoli Cremona (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Treviso will play against Trento (#9) and hope to win that game.
