Regular Season Round 19: Solares - Valle de Egues 70-76

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 11th ranked Solares (7-11) lost at home to twelfth ranked Valle de Egues (7-10) 76-70 on Sunday. Strangely Solares outrebounded Valle de Egues 46-32 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for point guard Alex Calvo (180-91) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. Ivorian power forward Kouassi Konan (203-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Valle de Egues players scored in double figures. Point guard Giovanny Contreras (180-0) answered with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Sergio Garcia (195-95) added 6 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Solares. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valle de Egues moved-up to ninth place in Group A-A, which they share with Zarautz. Solares lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Valle de Egues will face higher ranked Easo (#4) in San Sebastian in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Solares will play on the road against the league's second-placed Mondragon (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
