Regular Season Round 21: Faenza - Cesena 76-66

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Faenza (10-11) defeated at home 4th placed Cesena (14-7) 76-66 on Sunday. Faenza looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Power forward Giorgio Sgobba (200-92, agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Simon Anumba (191-96) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Faenza's coach Massimo Friso used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was swingman Matteo Frassineti (197-87) with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Francesco Papa (198-95) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Faenza moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Mestre and LTC Sangiorg. Loser Cesena dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Faenza will face Aurora JE (#10) in Jesi in the next round. Cesena will play at home against the league's leader Benedetto CE (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
