Regular Season Round 41: Koshigaya A. - Sendai 89ers 55-58

Fifth-ranked Koshigaya A. (14-27) gave a tough game to first ranked Sendai 89ers (31-10) in Tokyo on Sunday. The visitors from Sendai managed to secure only three-point victory 58-55. However their fans expected much easier game. American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Keita Sawabe (184-95) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Hotaru Yokotsuka (179-90) responded with 18 points and American center Andrew Naymick (209-85, college: Michigan St.) scored 7 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sendai 89ers have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 31-10 record. Newly promoted Koshigaya A. keeps the fifth position with 27 games lost. Sendai 89ers are looking forward to face Tokyo Z (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Koshigaya A. will play against Orange Vikings in Matsuyama and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
