Very expected game when 7th ranked Liffey Celtics (6-8) lost to third ranked Glanmire (10-4) in Cork 71-85 on Sunday. Glanmire made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Glanmire outrebounded Liffey Celtics 51-33 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Shrita Parker (170-95, college: UNCW) notched 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Tatum Neubert (188, college: Colorado St.) supported her with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Even 22 points by the former international swingman Sorcha Tiernan (177-99) did not help to save the game for Liffey Celtics. American forward Briana Green (180, college: Southern, agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Glanmire maintains third position with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader DCU Mercy, which they share with Killester. Loser Liffey Celtics keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Glanmire will meet at home bottom-ranked Marble CH (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Liffey Celtics will play against WIT Wildcats in Waterford and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
