Regular Season Round 7: Zaza - Martve 82-65

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Zaza (#3) and Martve (#2). Zaza (5-1) crushed visiting Martve (5-2) by 17 points 82-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Martve. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Zaza. Martve was better in fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zaza forced 29 Martve turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Luka Qutidze (177-2) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals. Point guard Giorgi Makhniashvili (182-3) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Zaza players scored in double figures. Center Nika Ratiani (210-2) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocks and point guard Sandro Zandukeli (175-2) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Martve. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zaza moved-up to second place. Martve at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Zaza's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Hyundai.
