Very expected game when 16th ranked Pato Basquete (2-18) lost at home to eleventh ranked Botafogo F.R. (10-12) 75-69 on Wednesday. Pato Basquete was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 assists. The former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Botafogo F.R. players scored in double figures. American forward Charles Funches (203-88, college: Hampton) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Isaac Thornton (190-91, college: Fairmont St.) added 14 points in the effort for Pato Basquete. Pato Basquete's coach Dede Barbosa let to play ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Botafogo F.R. have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to ninth place. Pato Basquete lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 18 lost games. Botafogo F.R. will face Rio Claro (#12) on the road in the next round.
