Regular Season Round 22: United - Taipans 99-83

The most important game in the last round took place in Melbourne between third ranked Cairns Taipans (16-12) and sixth ranked United (15-13) on Thursday night. Cairns Taipans were defeated by United on the road 83-99. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. The former international forward David Barlow (205-83, college: MSU Denver) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. United's coach Dean Vickerman used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Cameron Oliver (203-96, college: Nevada) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and Brazilian-American guard Scott Machado (186-90, college: Iona) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Cairns Taipans. Four United and five Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. United have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bullets and Breakers. Cairns Taipans at the other side keep the third position with 12 games lost.
