Second Stage Round 4: Gorizont - COR Victoria 107-60

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of COR Victoria (1-1) in Minsk on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by Gorizont (2-0) 107-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of COR Victoria. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to COR Victoria's 44. Gorizont forced 21 COR Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 43-21 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 40 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by COR Victoria's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Bree Alford (183-96, college: Loyola Mary) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Volha Hromik (183-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. Forward Daria Balaker (163-2) replied with 15 points and forward Anastasia Golovchiner (184-2) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for COR Victoria. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gorizont keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. COR Victoria at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Olimpia. Gorizont is looking forward to face Olimpia (#3) in Grodno in the next round, which may be the game of the day. COR Victoria will have a break next round.
