Regular Season Round 22: Real Canoe - Delteco GBC 81-82

Seventeenth-ranked Real Canoe (5-17) gave a tough game to second ranked Gipuzkoa (17-5) in Madrid. The visitors from San Sebastian managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected much easier game. Gipuzkoa made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Latvian center Davis Rozitis (215-90, college: Hawaii) notched 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Xavi Oroz (192-96) supported him with 7 points and 11 rebounds. Rozitis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by point guard Alberto Martin (184-95) did not help to save the game for Real Canoe. Dutch forward Olaf Schaftenaar (208-93, college: Oregon St.) added 20 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa have a solid three-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Valladolid lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Real Canoe at the other side keeps the seventeenth place with 17 games lost. Gipuzkoa will play against Melilla Baloncesto (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Real Canoe will play against Magia Huesca (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
