Regular Season Round 37: Aisin AW - Gifu Swoops 87-86

Eleventh-ranked Gifu Swoops (8-28) gave a tough game to third ranked Aisin AW (26-11) in Aichi on Saturday. Aisin AW managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Aisin AW outrebounded Gifu Swoops 41-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. American Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 21 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward AJ John (202-96, college: UC Davis) responded with 31 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Eitaro Iwamatsu (179-95) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gifu Swoops players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Aisin AW maintains third place with 26-11 record behind leader Saga B., which they share with Iwate Big Bulls. Loser Gifu Swoops keep the eleventh position with 28 games lost. Aisin AW will face again Gifu Swoops (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
