There was no surprise when 15th ranked Lanzarote (4-16) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Rivas (16-4) 93-64 on Saturday. Rivas made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Lanzarote turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Julien Sargent (211-91, college: Mobile, AL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Angel Gomez (197-87) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Rivas players scored in double figures. Rivas' coach Juanjo Simon felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Javier Herreros (198-94) responded with 25 points and Trinidad and Tobago center Chike Augustine (206-92, college: Martin Methodist) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Rivas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 16-4 record having just one point less than leader Alcobendas. Lanzarote lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 16 games lost. Rivas will face Pozuelo (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Lanzarote will play against the league's leader Alcobendas and hope to win that game.
