Regular Season Round 22: Ourense - Alicante 68-70

A very interesting game took place in Ourense. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 10th ranked Ourense (10-12) to fifth ranked HLA Alicante (14-8) 70-68 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. HLA Alicante made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 7 rebounds. Jose Ortega (192-97) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five HLA Alicante players scored in double figures. Forward Eduardo Martinez (202-90) replied with 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Dutch forward Kevin van-Wijk (203-89, college: Valpo) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ourense. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. HLA Alicante have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Ourense lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 12 games lost. HLA Alicante's next round opponent will be Lleida Basquet (#15) at home which should be an easy win for them. Ourense will play against the league's leader Carramimbre (#1) in Valladolid and hope to win that game.
