Regular Season Round 37: Shizuoka - Iwate Big Bulls 59-86

Very expected game when 9th ranked Shizuoka (13-22) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (26-11) 86-59 on Saturday. Iwate Big Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Shizuoka's 38. They outrebounded Shizuoka 50-34 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Justin Herold (202-91, college: Sonoma St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and point guard Kohei Kawashima (170-98) chipped in 8 points and 19 rebounds. At the losing side Beninese forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and forward Abu Philip (198-97) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Iwate Big Bulls moved-up to third place, which they share with Aisin AW. Shizuoka lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with 22 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round. Shizuoka will play again at home against Iwate Big Bulls (#4) and hope to win that game.
