Not a big story in a game in Matsuyama where 5th ranked Koshigaya A. (14-28) was defeated by third ranked Orange Vikings (22-20) 95-83 on Saturday. Orange Vikings made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Orange Vikings outrebounded Koshigaya A. 40-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) chipped in 5 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Andrew Naymick (209-85, college: Michigan St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and Tomoya Ochiai (195-87) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Koshigaya A.'s coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Orange Vikings maintains third position with 22-20 record having ten points less than leader Shinshu BW. Koshigaya A. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth place with 28 games lost. Orange Vikings will face again Koshigaya A. (#5) in Tokyo in the next round.
