Regular Season Round 42: Kagawa FA - Fukushima 90-81

Rather predictable result in Takamatsu where second ranked Kagawa FA (26-14) beat 5th ranked Fukushima (12-28) 90-81 on Saturday. Kagawa FA dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 42. They outrebounded Fukushima 43-30 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kagawa FA looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 28 rebounds and 9 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Point guard Takayuki Kodama (166-92) chipped in 28 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: UCF) who recorded 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Dai Suzuki (183-90) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Kagawa FA maintains second position with 26-14 record having eight points less than leader Shinshu BW. Loser Fukushima keeps the fifth place with 28 games lost. Kagawa FA will face again Fukushima (#5) at home in the next round.
