Regular Season Round 24: Zeus NPC Rieti - Fortitudo AGR 84-76

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Fortitudo AGR (15-9) against ninth ranked Zeus NPC Rieti (13-11) on Sunday night. Visiting Fortitudo AGR was defeated by Zeus NPC Rieti in a tough game in Rieti 76-84. Zeus NPC Rieti dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fortitudo AGR's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by the former international point guard Marco Passera (180-82) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 assists and forward Giovanni Vildera (205-95) supported him with 20 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by American center Tony Easley (206-87, college: Murray St.) did not help to save the game for Fortitudo AGR. Guard Giovanni De-Nicolao (190-96, college: UTSA) added 19 points. Five Zeus NPC Rieti and four Fortitudo AGR players scored in double figures. Fortitudo AGR's coach Devis Cagnardi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zeus NPC Rieti moved-up to eighth place in A2. Loser Fortitudo AGR dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. Zeus NPC Rieti will meet at home higher ranked 2B Control TR (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fortitudo AGR will play against SS Napoli and hope to secure a win.
