Regular Season Round 24: Orzinuovi - Basket RAV 74-76

Thirteenth-ranked Orzinuovi (7-17) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Basket RAV (20-4) on Sunday. The visitors from Ravenna managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Basket RAV dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Orzinuovi's 20. It was a good game for American guard Giddy Potts (188-95, college: MTSU) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Anthony Miles (185-89, college: Lamar) replied with 24 points and 4 assists and Nigerian forward Christian Mekowulu (206-95, college: Texas A&M) added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Orzinuovi. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Basket RAV maintains first position in A2 with 20-4 record. Newly promoted Orzinuovi keeps the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Basket RAV are looking forward to face Pompea MNV (#5) in Mirandola in the next round. Orzinuovi will play on the road against A.Costa IM (#10) in Imola and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
