There was a surprise result in Alcantarilla where thirteenth ranked Segle XXI (5-13) edged higher ranked UCAM Jairis (8-10) 59-58 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Marta Suarez (188-2) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Marta Garcia (190-2) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Segle XXI's coach used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian swingman Olga Stepanovic (180-94) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Segle XXI moved-up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with Picken Claret and Mataro Parc. Loser UCAM Jairis dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Segle XXI will face higher ranked Girona (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
