Regular Season Round 18: Antwerp - Spirou 86-72

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Spirou Charleroi (8-8) was defeated on the road by third ranked Antwerp Giants (11-5) 86-72 on Sunday. Antwerp Giants outrebounded Spirou Charleroi 40-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. Canadian power forward Owen Klassen (208-91, college: Acadia) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward David Dudzinski (206-92, college: Holy Cross, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Kenneth Smith (190-93, college: Louisiana Tech) with 19 points and 8 assists and his fellow American import guard Anthony Beane (188-94, college: SIU, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 20 points. Four Spirou Charleroi players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Antwerp Giants moved-up to second place, which they share with Mons-Hainaut. Loser Spirou Charleroi dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Leuven and Kangoeroes. Antwerp Giants will meet Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Spirou Charleroi will play against Liege Basket and hope to secure a win.
