Regular Season Round 38: Shizuoka - Iwate Big Bulls 54-62

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Shizuoka (13-23) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (27-11) 62-54. Iwate Big Bulls forced 20 Shizuoka turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Shizuoka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Justin Herold (202-91, college: Sonoma St.) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Canadian forward Erik Nissen (206-95, college: Acadia) supported him with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Even 9 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists by Beninese forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) did not help to save the game for Shizuoka. Hayate Yamashita (193-92) added 12 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Iwate Big Bulls moved-up to second place, which they share with Aisin AW and Toyoda Gosei. Shizuoka lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 23 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls' next round opponent will be Tokyo CR (#9) at home and are hoping to win another game. Shizuoka will play against the league's leader Saga B. and hope to win that game.
