Regular Season Round 39: Chiba J. - Osaka E. 89-66
Date: February 16, 2020
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-best Osaka E. (24-15) was outplayed on the road by third ranked Chiba J. (28-11) 89-66 on Sunday. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 5 assists. Naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) helped adding 17 points and 13 rebounds. Four Chiba J. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Kyle Barone (203-89, college: Idaho) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and the former international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Chiba J.. They maintain third place with 28-11 record having just two points less than leader Tochigi B. Osaka E. lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the second position with 15 games lost. Chiba J. will face Shiga L-Stars (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Osaka E. will play against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
