Second Stage Round 5: Gorizont - Olimpia 68-70

Important game to mention about took place in Minsk. Third ranked Olimpia (2-1) saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging second-ranked Gorizont (2-1) 70-68 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gorizont. Gorizont was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 37-33 second half run of Olimpia. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Power forward Olga Kopylova (187-82) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Nadzeya Nadzezhka (183-87) accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Janae Smith (188-92, college: UAB) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and international guard Volha Ziuzkova (171-83) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for Gorizont in the defeat. Olimpia moved-up to second place, which they share with Gorizont and RGUOR. Olimpia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Grodno to the arena Victoria.
