Rather expected game when 9th ranked Kutaisi 2 (2-7) was smashed by seventh ranked Academy (4-4) in Tbilisi 108-54 on Monday. The game without a history. Academy led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kutaisi 2's 40. Academy forced 23 Kutaisi 2 turnovers and had a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Luka Makharashvili (185-2) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Davit Abuladze (182-2) contributed with 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Academy players scored in double figures. Swingman Roland Devidze (188-3) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and forward Giorgi Khurtsidze (185-3) added 9 points and 4 steals in the effort for Kutaisi 2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Academy have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wings and Rustavi. Loser Kutaisi 2 keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
