Regular Season Round 16: Banovici - Orlovi 66-51

One of the most interesting games of round 16 was a derby match between two teams from Bosnia. Sixth ranked Banovici won against visiting Orlovi (3-13) 66-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Orlovi. It looked good early as Orlovi took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Banovici had a 20-13 second period charge getting the lead and Orlovi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 51-66. Banovici forced 21 Orlovi turnovers. The winners were led by Jovana Markovic (186-97) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Nikolina Delic (184-96) supported her with 19 points. Four Banovici players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by Serbian swingman Tamara Rajic (182-93) did not help to save the game for Orlovi. Center Aleksandra Begenisic (194-89) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Defending Bosnian champion maintains sixth position with 5-11 record. Orlovi at the other side stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Banovici will play against higher ranked Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Orlovi will play at home against Kraljevo (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
