Rather predictable result in Minnesota where second ranked Celtics (39-16) defeated 5th ranked Timberwolves (16-38) 127-117 on Friday. Celtics dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 42 and made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Timberwolves 58-43 including 16 on the offensive glass. Celtics looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Timberwolves were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Jayson Tatum (203-98, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). German Daniel Theis (204-92) helped adding 25 points and 16 rebounds. At the losing side DAngelo Russell (196-96, college: Ohio St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists and guard Malik Beasley (196-96, college: FSU) scored 27 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Celtics maintains second place with 39-16 record having just one point less than leader Toronto R. Timberwolves lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 38 games lost.
