Very predictable result in Lodz where fourth ranked AZS UMCS (12-6) defeated 9th ranked Widzew (4-14) 89-81 on Saturday. AZS UMCS made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Alexis Peterson (173-95, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) who scored 26 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The other American import center Briana Day (193-95, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Taylor Emery (178-97, college: Virginia Tech) who recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Serbian forward Katarina Vuckovic (191-94, college: Georgia Tech) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AZS UMCS maintains fourth position with 12-6 record. Widzew lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Enea AZS P.. AZS UMCS will meet Politechnika Gdanska (#8) on the road in the next round. Widzew will play against Katarzynki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
