Regular Season Round 18: Uppsala - Visby 66-79

Date: February 22, 2020
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Uppsala (2-15) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Visby Ladies (2-14) 79-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Visby Ladies. Uppsala was better in second period 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Visby Ladies won last quarter 28-17. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Visby Ladies outrebounded Uppsala 54-33 including a 36-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Julie Spencer (186-96, college: Portland) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds. The other American import guard Alexa Middleton (175-95, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Ellinor Holmberg (170-96) who recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Agnes Nordstrom (180-88) added 9 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Uppsala's coach Mady Mahdy rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Visby Ladies moved-up to tenth place. Uppsala lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 15 games lost. Visby Ladies will face higher ranked Mark (#8) in Kinna in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
