Regular Season Round 21: Tabirako - Valle de Egues 52-69

The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Valle de Egues' (9-10) road victory over 11th ranked Tabirako (7-13) 69-52 on Saturday. They outrebounded Tabirako 36-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Javier Lacunza (203-94, college: FAU) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Alex Calvo (180-91) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Xabier Arrotajauregi (180-98) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Imanol Orue-Mazaga (202-96) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valle de Egues have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place in Group A-A, which they share with Zarautz. Tabirako lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Valle de Egues will face higher ranked Nissan Burgos (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tabirako will play against the league's second-placed Mondragon (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
