There was no surprise in Kouvola where 5th ranked Catz Lappeenranta (14-9) was defeated by second ranked Kouvottaret (19-4) 82-65. The game without a history. Kouvottaret led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Kouvottaret outrebounded Catz Lappeenranta 52-32 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Ugandan power forward Claire Lamunu (185-93, college: Vanguard) accounted for 20 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side. American swingman Erica Covile (185-94, college: Temple) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Catz Lappeenranta in the defeat. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. Kouvottaret have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with PeKa. Catz Lappeenranta at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Kouvottaret's next round opponent will be Espoo Team (#6) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Forssan Alku and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
