Regular Season Round 19: ToPo Juniorit - LoKoKo Bisons 78-85

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Helsinki. Second ranked LoKoKo Bisons faced 4th placed ToPo Juniorit. Guests from Loimaa (15-4) defeated host ToPo Juniorit (10-9) 85-78. It looked good early as ToPo Juniorit took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then LoKoKo Bisons had a 21-11 second period charge getting the lead and ToPo Juniorit was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-85. LoKoKo Bisons shot 25 for 36 from the free-throw line, while ToPo Juniorit only scored eight points from the stripe. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. LoKoKo Bisons brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. ToPo Juniorit was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ville Karvonen (198-96) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 assists. American forward Joshua Wilchombe (203, college: OKWU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Wilchombe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Miki Kuusisto (194-94) answered with 24 points and 5 assists and center Federiko Federiko (205-1) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for ToPo Juniorit. Four ToPo Juniorit players scored in double figures. LoKoKo Bisons maintains second place in Division with 15-4 record having four points less than leader HBA-Marsky. ToPo Juniorit at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. LoKoKo Bisons will play against FoKoPo (#12) in Forssa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ToPo Juniorit's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Helsinki HNMKY.
