No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Unicaja (13-6) beat 9th ranked UCAM Jairis (8-11) in Malaga 75-57 on Saturday. Unicaja forced 24 UCAM Jairis turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Montenegrin center Ana Pocek (190-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88) contributed with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Unicaja's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds and forward Victoria Robles (179-91) added 5 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for UCAM Jairis. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Unicaja. Newly promoted Unicaja maintains fourth place in Group B with 13-6 record. UCAM Jairis lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Unicaja will face Girona (#7) on the road in the next round. UCAM Jairis will play against Almeria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
