Regular Season Round 21: Pozuelo - Rivas 73-80

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Pozuelo (5-16) was defeated at home by second ranked Rivas (17-4) 80-73 on Saturday. Pozuelo was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Eduardo Gomez (194-93) who scored 21 points. Power forward Angel Gomez (197-87) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Rivas' coach Juanjo Simon used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was center Alejandro Cue (201-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jose Galocha (185-88) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rivas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group B with 17-4 record having just one point less than leader Alcobendas. Pozuelo lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Rivas will face Aguimes (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pozuelo will play against the league's leader Alcobendas and hope to win that game.
