Regular Season Round 21: Avila - Obradoiro S. 85-71

Rather expected game in Avila where 6th ranked Obradoiro S. (10-8) was defeated by third ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (14-4) 85-71 on Saturday. Fontedoso Carrefour outrebounded Obradoiro S. 43-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Obradoiro S.'s players. The best player for the winners was point guard Jaume Lobo (180-97) who scored 25 points and 4 assists. Point guard Alvaro Tebar (177-99) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Rafael Garcia (185-0) who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds and Icelandic forward Sigvaldi Eggertsson (197-0) added 13 points respectively. Obradoiro S.'s coach Denis Pombar rotated twelve players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fontedoso Carrefour have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Chantada. Newly promoted Obradoiro S. keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Fontedoso Carrefour will face Culle (#8) in Culleredo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Obradoiro S. will play at home against Betanzos and hope to win that game.
