Regular Season Round 19: Anatolia - Dafni 83-76

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Thessaloniki where 9th ranked Dafni (7-11) was defeated by tenth ranked Anatolia (8-11) 83-76. Anatolia outrebounded Dafni 38-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for center Ioannis Tozios (209-90) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Power forward Giorgos Brozos (198-86, college: Furman) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Power forward Panagiotis Filippakos (203-94) came up with 24 points and 6 rebounds and forward Andreas Kanonidis (200-91) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Dafni in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Anatolia moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Agriniou. Dafni at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Anatolia's next round opponent will be Tritonas S. (#14) in Athens which should be theoretically an easy game. Dafni's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Pagrati.
