Regular Season Round 45: FE Nagoya - Fukuoka R. 97-73
Date: February 23, 2020
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Fukuoka R. (11-34) was rolled over on the road by third ranked FE Nagoya (23-22) 97-73 on Sunday. FE Nagoya shot 67.3 percent from the field and made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. FE Nagoya had a 26-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for FE Nagoya especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 78.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: WSU, agency: Wasserman) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Guard Kei Sugimoto (182-92) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four FE Nagoya players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Spanish center David Doblas (208-81) who recorded 24 points and 7 rebounds and guard Masashi Joho (183-82) added 24 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. FE Nagoya maintains third place with 23-22 record having eleven points less than leader Shinshu BW, which they share with Ehime OV. Fukuoka R. lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 34 games lost. FE Nagoya will face Koshigaya A. (#5) in Tokyo in the next round. Fukuoka R. will play at home against Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
