Regular Season Round 21: Betanzos - Univ.Valladolid 63-76

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Univ.Valladolid (6-12) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Betanzos (6-12) 76-63 on Sunday. Univ.Valladolid dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Betanzos' 24. Univ.Valladolid forced 20 Betanzos turnovers. The best player for the winners was Javier Burgoa (186-99) who scored 20 points. Point guard Alejandro Pescador (180-97) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Univ.Valladolid's coach Domingo Cano used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds and center Marcos Rozas (202-83) added 7 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Univ.Valladolid moved-up to ninth place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. and Betanzos. Univ.Valladolid will face higher ranked La Antigua (#7) in Salamanca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Betanzos will play on the road against Obradoiro S. in Santiago de Comp and hope to win that game.
