Regular Season Round 21: Leon - Chantada 59-82

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Leon (3-15) was crushed at home by third ranked Chantada (14-4) 82-59 on Sunday. Chantada looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Leon's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Martin Rodriguez (182-96) who scored 7 points, 9 rebounds and 15 assists. Forward Cristian Iglesias (200-94) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Chantada players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Swedish forward Musa Jeng (202-99) who recorded 15 points and American forward Billy McDonald (198-94, college: Caldwell) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chantada moved-up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Avila. Leon lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Chantada will face Xiria (#12) in Carballo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leon will play on the road against PBB in Porrino and hope to win that game.
