Regular Season Round 21: Solares - Filipenses 88-80

Everything went according to plan when twelfth ranked Solares (8-12) won against at home 15th ranked Filipenses (2-17) 88-80 on Sunday. Solares looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Filipenses was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Sergio Garcia (195-95) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Carlos Sepulveda (178-96) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Four Solares players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Kenyan Ronald Gombe (203-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Juan-Pedro Garcia (192-88) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Solares moved-up to eleventh place in Group A-A, which they share with Santurtzi. Filipenses lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Solares will have a break next round. Filipenses will play at home against Easo (#5) and hope to win that game.
