Regular Season Round 23: Porto S.Elpidio - Cesena 70-88

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Cesena (16-7) defeated on the road 16th ranked Porto S.Elpidio (2-21) 88-70 on Sunday. Cesena made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Porto S.Elpidio turnovers. Point guard Emanuele Trapani (184-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 5 assists and 8 steals. Swingman Gioacchino Chiappelli (198-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Stefano Borsato (193-86, agency: Two Points) answered with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Nicola Bastone (196-92) added 22 points in the effort for Porto S.Elpidio. Four Porto S.Elpidio players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cesena moved-up to third place in B, which they share with Padova. Loser Porto S.Elpidio keeps the sixteenth position with 21 games lost. Cesena will face Ancona (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Porto S.Elpidio will play against Teramo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
