Regular Season Round 21: Santurtzi - Baskonia 75-67

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Santurtzi (8-12) defeated at home higher ranked Baskonia (10-10) 75-67 on Sunday. Santurtzi dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Baskonia's 20. Santurtzi forced 27 Baskonia turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Imanol Artinano (203-95, college: Alders.-Broad.) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Sergio Iglesias (193-92) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Alejandro Lopez who recorded 15 points and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Czech guard Ondrej Hanzlik (193-2) added 16 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Santurtzi maintains eleventh place in Group A-A with 8-12 record, which they share with Solares. Loser Baskonia keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Santurtzi will face higher ranked Zarautz (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
